double well for atom chip based sensors
نویسنده
چکیده
We report on the adiabatic splitting of a BEC of Rb atoms by an asymmetric double-well potential located above the edge of a perpendicularly magnetized TbGdFeCo film atom chip. By controlling the barrier height and double-well asymmetry the sensitivity of the axial splitting process is investigated through observation of the fractional atom distribution between the left and right wells. This process constitutes a novel sensor for which we infer a single shot sensitivity to gravity fields of δg/g ≈ 2 × 10. From a simple analytic model we propose improvements to chip-based gravity detectors using this demonstrated methodology.

New Method for Analysis of image sensor to produce and evaluate the image
In this paper, a new method for evaluating CMOS image sensors based on computer modeling and analysis is introduced. Image sensors are composed of different parts, each of which has a specific effect on image quality. Circuits of image sensors can be evaluated and analyzed using circuit simulators or theoretically, but these methods cannot help to produce the final image. In order to produce th...

We discuss design considerations and the realization of a magnetic double-well potential on an atom chip using current-carrying wires. Stability requirements for the trapping potential lead to a typical size of order microns for such a device. We also present experiments using the device to manipulate cold, trapped atoms. متن کاملA Fully Integrated Range-Finder Based on the Line-Stripe Method
In this paper, an imaging chip for acquiring range information using by 0.35 μm CMOS technology and 5V power supply has been described. The system can extract range information without any mechanical movement and all the signal processing is done on the chip. All of the image sensors and mixed-signal processors are integrated in the chip. The design range is 1.5m-10m with 18 scales.
متن کاملLong phase coherence time and number squeezing of two Bose-Einstein condensates on an atom chip.
We measure the relative phase of two Bose-Einstein condensates confined in a radio frequency induced double-well potential on an atom chip. We observe phase coherence between the separated condensates for times up to approximately 200 ms after splitting, a factor of 10 longer than the phase diffusion time expected for a coherent state for our experimental conditions. The enhanced coherence time...

We present a toolbox for cold atom manipulation with time-dependent magnetic fields generated by an atom chip. Wire layouts, detailed experimental procedures and results are presented for the following experiments: Use of a magnetic conveyor belt for positioning of cold atoms and Bose-Einstein condensates with a resolution of two nanometers; splitting of thermal clouds and BECs in adjustable ma...
